Is anyone else enjoying this series? Its enjoyable, sure, but still I prefer Doctor Who. They say Torchwood is "more adult", but I think its not. Its only more adult due to swearing. Doctor Who is a much more intriging, intelectual and thought provocing show. Still, its a very nice spin-off, but its more like a Buffy/Angel wannabe. Still, its better than K-9 and Company! :D

I've been watching it. It has slowing been getting better. My favourite episode was 'Countrycide'. The problems I have got with it are :

1) Swearing is shoe-horned in to give it an 'adult' badge but adds nothing to the episode.
2) Forced chemistry between characters where none exists. So forced I think the script writer is trying to hit me in the face with it every few minutes. Again adds nothing to the episodes.
3) Forced 'emotional' scenes that are just rubbish. The only emotional scene that worked was the bit where Jacks old girlfriend dies in his arms.
4) Blue glowing lights are SOOO naff. When will TV people get over the fact that blue LEDs are relatively new on the scene. In fact when will the electronics industry get over the whole 'blue lights are cool' thing. They aren't. They are going to date Torchwood faster than anything else in the episodes.
5) Secret undercover organisations do not drive black 4x4s with blue lights all over the place and their name written in capital letters down the side!
6) Strange bits of plot that make no sense. The 'stopwatch' references at the end of the last episode for example. What the hell ?

They sold Torchwood as being an adult scifi program. It is a normal scifi program where they have inserted random swearing and mild sexual references. Spooks is far better written and doesn't rely on either swearing or sex to be considered adult.

I have hopes for it. Hopefully the writers will grow up a bit ready for season 2 ....

Mmm... Countrycide. Yeah, I agree thats probably the best episode but I think its more of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre rip-off. Come one! Village of Canabals? Some of the group get kidnapped? Quite naff, but still good.

The last episode was excellent .... except the last 2 minutes when the script writer really lost it.

The Countrycide episode reminded me of Dog Soldiers ...

What did you guys think og the last two episodes? And apparently there is this "saxon' theory thing for Doctor W. and there were all these 'Vote Saxon' posters up in the last two Torchwoods. :) Anyway i thought it was good, just a bit wierd, because Cpt Jack started kissing everyone, it seemed! ;)

I have watched pretty much all of the series. But I new from the start that they had to give John Barrowman a gay part. Not that I'm against them, but i don't see how it fitted in with the rest of the story (The holding hands, dancing and stuff). Didn't seem appropriate. I agree with you, Matt, how some of the stuff didn't seem good for a top secret organisation, giant cars, flashing lights and that.
I don't really think they had to have swearing in it, because Captain Jack in Doctor Who never swore, so why is Torchwood suddenly a reason to cuss? Some of the ideas in the series were quite good, but a lot of the stuff seemed so over dramatic.
I really didn't like the giant horned monster right at the end. A bit over the top, like the rest of the programmes. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

Just one thing that i almost understood, but wasn't sure. When the doctor got his hand chopped off by the alien chavvie, is that the hand that Torchwood had in their base, and that was why it was spazzing out when the doctor came back? sounds noobish, eh? lol.

I hate the HD they film this thing on. It's got a strange blurry effect. Put me off watching it which is a shame
