Is a PD150 capable of shooting a film?

Post by nigel101 »

I can't decide which camcorda to buy, it looks like i'll be buying the PD150 but can anyone tell me is this a camcorda you can make films on like the XL1, its has 3CCD, but i havent heard anyone using it to make a film, although XL1 GL2 XL2 XL1s and more have i.e. 28 days later.
Whats the differents between PD150 and GL2, XL1........

What films where shot with PD150?

Any camera is capable of shooting a "film." The PD150, however, is exceptional in this area. In fact, more films have been shot on a PD150 than have been on an XL1s. Check out the list below:

Two films to definitely check out are "Personal Velocity" and "Pieces of April." Both are great films shot on the PD150.

There are many differences. Right off the bat, I can tell you that the PD150 and the XL1s have 1/3" CCDs while the GL2 has smaller 1/4" CCDs. The PD150 is the king of low light (along with the VX2000, PD170, and VX2100). Also, the PD150 has two XLR inputs, while the GL2 and XL1s have 1/8" minijacks. Though you can buy an XLR breakout box for the XL1s, and a third party XLR adapter for the GL2, it's easier and more logical to have it built on from the start.

If you have more specific questions, let me know. I'd be happy to answer them.
Erm... yeah...

I have a GL2 it is as capable as thwe PD-150 or XL1, low light situations though the Gl2 suffers some. Personally I'd gwet a Panasonic AVGX-100A.
