if the fog doesnt work out u'd have to spend hundreds of hours masking furniture and actors in AE and then have like 20 or so different layers of fog, each in a slightly different position and opacity and all animated indepently of each other. probably much too hard :p

True True, much easier to actually do PHYSICAL fog.

And it's cheap. Just purchase a couple discount fog machines before halloween.

We rented a smoke machine before during a funeral at a church. Thing about it is that its really hard to control and floats off very easily even in semi-enclosed compounds and it doesnt balance out. You'll either have too much or too little of it. It doesnt linger around much either. If you live near Chinatown or random New Age shops, buy praying joss-sticks or insence burners. Its much more primitive but the smoke lasts longer. This was recommended to me by Kelvin Tong, director of The Maid if any of you have seen it.
