Post by foxwood »

for the next project I'm working on, we are dressing one of the characters in modern armour, and I am trying to find somthing that doesn't look gay, like paintball stuff. If anybody has any ideas or interesting sites, send them.

Get some silver spray paint that is tinted light (like metal cr** w/e) and get a catchers chest guard, spray paint it, and your set....

This is a tough one. Leather is actually a good suppliment for armor, not the coat stuff, but some of that real hard stuff, like they make horse saddles out of. But you could play around with that for some armor, make shoulder straps, breast plates, etc. maybe something like this, but modern. Image
this armor is solely leather, with some hints of metal.

I see that by your link you would like it to be much more high tech than what i thought. Well my next suggestion would be similar to Epsilon's by getting some plastic, possibly several peices to mold it into your own shapes comfort and designs, next painting them into desired colors.

I'm thinking we are going to end up screwing with some paintball stuff, even though it looks really silly and such.

well probably end up making our own stuff, but on the subject of armour, we just got in the armour for the villion, which is a sute of roman plate mail and it kicks butt, I'll try and get pictures up tommarow. And to think the modern stuff should be the simple s*** to get a hold of.

If U wanna make cheap modern armour, get one of the vests (Minus the ceramic plates) (or make your own) and then make foam or polystyrene copies of the ceramic armour plates

Senior is right, make it from scratch.

One link to rule them all:
http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/index.html

That should probably cover everything you'll need to make armor :)

No, I wasn't suggesting you make stormtrooper armor, I was just posting that site as a reference for general armor construction. Making custom molds should be easy with the instructions from Studio Creations. DeadLogic's link is more what you were looking for though, I think.
