Schmokin'!

Post by El Brenty »

Ever wondered where you can get a few off-the-shelf things for making smoke here in the UK, that doesn't cost the earth, and won't poison you, well, have a look at this:

Image

It's smoke spray, that you can buy for about £8

Need more control, or remote smoke?

Here's a fog machine for about £30

AH! Finally, if you don't want to flood everything with smoke, but create an eeire localised mist, this would do the job for you!

It humidifies the air around it, creating a low-lying fog - Ideally used in ornamental ponds, it could also be used on your film-set, for special effects.

You can get these at your local Maplin Electronics store, or online at http://www.maplin.co.uk/

Party shops also hire this equipment, but almost for the same cost of buying it from Maplins, where you can use it at your own leisure (And after filming for parties! Hell, you could even hire it out to friends, and raise money to pay for it all!)

Anyone know other sources of smoke equipment

Well, there is always dry ice! Besides practicality in filmmaking, it is loads of fun to play with. :)

In cold areas, boiling water may work well enough too.

Such as Winterpeg (Winnipeg) we just had a snowstorm (60cm of snow in 1 day) 2 days ago.
Boiling water would work here.
