Whats an EDL? Batch capture? It's good practice to always do this. EDL I think stands for edit decision list. After you film you just write down all the in and out time-codes of your tape. Batch capture is when you enter these values into Premiere and it captures just those parts of the video autom...

Yeah but come on. You're first editing something and then rendering it. You're then taking that render, adding effects to it and re-rendering. That = Quality loss does it not? What effects did you use there, btw... I see lens flare and...? I think that with the new Premiere and After Effects you ca...

For my latest project I exported a 5 second clip of just a white background letterboxed to 16:9 to my DV camera. I then taped off the black bars on the viewfinder (or screen or whatever its called) so when I film I only see what will remain when I letterbox in post. Then in Premiere you use the wide...

Here's a site that gives the basic lighting that I use when I film.

All you need are a couple of halogens and a reflector (I use a cardboard box) and it gives a great effect.

They probably did CG transformations in the movie but you can make different looking transformations very easily by using morphing software. It will look like those old tv shows where a human morphs into an animal. Winmorph will do it and it's free (big plus) but if you did a search in the forum you...

Nuclear Bomb
What would be the best way of creating a nuclear explosion with muchroom cloud and all? I've got maya PLE and have been able to create some fire effects but I don't know if I should use particles or how to texture it.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Yah. The displacement map method could look pretty cool. You could try something similar to this tutorial:

I've come up with a pretty good representation of the bullet ripple effect by attaching a particle generator to the bullet as well as a transparent cylinder in the shape of what I want the ripple to be. I'm just having a problem with giving the particles a glasslike texture as is seems to screw up t...

Matrix Bullet Trails
I've just started getting into 3d modelling with Maya 4.5 and I'm trying to make a bullet followed by a bullet trail in bullet time (like scene with Neo dodging bullets). I've already modelled and textured a bullet as well as a bullet trail but I'm having trouble only making part of the trail visibl...
