AE is not very different from other compositing programs, although how hard it is to use, depends highly on what you are going to do with it. Some things are achieved easy, some aren't...

I don't really get what you're looking for, you say something like morphing, but I don't think there's any morph at all in the video..
It's either 3d or shots taken from a helicopter..

I don't use premiere but I think it's something like color key or chroma keyer...

well, I would make the energyball in photoshop, and make like four of them and then let them grow on top of eachother in AE...I made a clip like this once, It turned out pretty good

wouldn't it be easier to just do it frame by frame? and then skip some frames and cheat a little XD
