Post by Spike_P_2 »

You guys said a while back that newspaper and magazines can be used, but isnt that gonna be a little obvious on cam? what are other effective "at home" things you can use without making it obvious.

if theyre hidden its not. . . . i put a mattress with cushions and stuff out in my living roomm once, i got shot with a shotgun and was thrown into the air, we cut it so i jumped off my sofa for the second bit, you could always cut it before the hit the cushions and then do a close up of a head landing, or hide it behind sumthing ie.a sofa

Foam camping pads are also useful, but the trick is cutting and layering things to match the contours of the actors body. If all else fails a good, thick leather jacket will work good to. You'll find that if you take your time magazines and foam won't be very obvious at all when underneath the actors clothes. Above all else, help yourelf when writing the script, don't have really tight costumes for the actors, and keep the cuts short, to help hide the effect.

Well i was saying this not only to use as stunt gear in an attempted fight scene where i would be making a fall really hard. I was doing this also as a possible way to use it as body armor when using a firecracker for a body hit. I dont plan on making really big squibs (like in the video, not that it looked bad) and i wanted to know if that would stop you from feeling the sting of the explosive.

Bullet-proof vest-lol, no I would say a small steel backing plate too.
