SWAT Outfit!

SWAT Outfit!
So my next short movie is about a botched special ops raid. I'm putting together 4 really nice outfits then I'll use angles and effects to get the full 12 man squad. Oh, and for you filmmakers who have problems because all your actors are under 18, consider hiding their faces. Any comments on the outfit so far?

RE: SWAT Outfit!
Remember that SWAT officers generally don't use SPAS12s - there's one man in an element with a Benelli M3 semi automatic shotgun, used mostly for breaching doors as one method for a quick entry. They can also be loaded with rubber bullets if they want to take a suspect alive.

yes, there not going to want to be shooting off live rounds form a shotgun in a crowed room full of hostages and terrorists/criminals.

RE: SWAT Outfit!
But the SPAS12 looks cooler! Actually in my script the guys aren't SWAT but are a special ops team of unknown origins.

I usually throw on a dark shirt and a vest, SWAT uniform looks cool. Is the SPAS an airsoft?

yea, real swat (or modern spec ops, for that manner) who wear the "Ninja Suit" made famous in films and games, usually sports a kevlar helmet, some kind of goggle (for keeping debris out of their eyes, and also somewhat dimming the flash of, say, flashbangs) and a mask that covers everything but the persons eyes. The eye holes usually count one wide one. Another thing people usually get off is the gloves. Gloves should not cover the fingertips because you don't want to be hindered while doing things that are sensetive (For instance, you don't want to screw up while, say, placing explosives of any kind)

Well, you do want mil-spec gloves. You do not fingertips showing either. That could lead to problems, from concealment to fingerprints on location. Typically SWAT troops wear kneepads, for obvious reason. And there is SWAT marked on them, often on the reverse side, for identification. All the armor looks great, except now they often use bullet proof Interceptor gear... but those are around $800 a set, so you can forget that. Really up to date setups include some kick-butt computer displays and eye pieces, and look like something from Star Wars. Too cool what they have today.
Just remember to keep them light. Speed and accuracy is what the SWAT is all about!

No, Special Weapons and Tactics is what SWAT is all about, ahah... just kidding. Anyways, the uniform looks extra sexy, you might want to check out this clip I found for a film titled Got Milk, it's got some SWAT stuff. http://gotmilkthemovie.com/video.htm#Speed and accuracy is what the SWAT is all about!

Yeah, not a bad price for one suit, but once you make half a dozen the cost will build up substantially! As for elbow and knee pads, I would search around for similar looking rolling blading gear.

I also need some spec ops uniforms for my upcoming movie. Here's what i've gotten from this thread, basically the uniform needs:
>A Mask
>Goggles
>ODU (Optical Display Unit)
>Dark Clothing
>Dark Vest
>Fingerless Gloves
>Knee Pads
>Elbow Pads
>A Helmet
Is there anything else that might help with authenticism? Holsters? Bandoleers? And I have a friend who can sew things really well. Does anyone have any kind of template for vests or anything like that? Thanks.

Oh boy, you're gonna need some research before you start in with something like this. I don't feel like writing another long a** guide, so just click here.
And yes, you're going to need holsters because you're not going to be carrying your sidarm tucked in your pants, and you're not going to be double fisting now are you?

The black BDUs were at a good deal from www.outinstyle.com, $10 for the shirt and $20 for the pants for mil-spec black BDUs. The helmet, goggles, gloves, vest and holster were from www.cheaperthandirt.com and the balaclava and SPAS-12 airsoft shotgun were off of eBay
