Body Squibs (Video Inside)

Post by slimdog55 »

Finally, my blood squibs worked!!! I put a 7 x 7 inch foam pad behind a 6 x 6 inch steel plate. I put some Velcro (Sticky) behind the steel plate. Then I got a Elastic Band with some Velco (Sew On) sewed to the ends. The Elastic band will hold up the steel plate and foam. I took a condom full of professinal fake blood (Reel Blood) and wrapped it around a Black Cat Firecracker. I taped the blood pack to the steel plate. I also taped the sides of the condom to compress it, so when the Firecracker blows up, it will burst easier. I made my own Model Rocket Igniter to ignite the firecracker. I also wore Ear Plugs that had a NRR (Noise Reduction Rating) of 32 dB. With the ear plugs on, it will not hurt your ears at all. (Ear Plugs are a must!!!) Also, I didn't feel a thing when it blew up. I'm making my own tutorial that will go on the internet in about 2 weeks. OK, here's the video.

I can't seem to download it, but it sounds awesome. How did you make the model rocket ignitors?

EDIT: Scratch that it's downloading now, I'll re-edit in a sec.

EDIT: Very nice, looked quite good, especially with the fancy blood. Seemed pretty instantaneous too. Nice work.

I don't have access to a better camera right now. Just my Sony Hi8. Like I said, I'll have it up in about 2 weeks. On Saturday, I'm going on vacation for a week. So when I get back, I'll start adding more to the tutorial and then put it online.

You know, there are a lot of squib hits done in Hollywood films without any blood too. I guess the splatter does add a nice touch! haha But I don't think it needs to be quite so powerful to effectively work.

Microtech seems to be down. I'll try to upload the video to that Google Video Uploader. I still have to take the pictures for the squib tutorial. Sometime next week.

Don't do it on GOOGLE, unless you want it to be done in 2 weeks.

I was just looking at the Google Video Uploader. I guess I'll only upload just my movies there, not test clips like these. So I guess you'll have to wait until Microtech is back up and running to watch the test clip. Or if you really want to see it, I'll just E-Mail it to you.
