Head Explosion

Post by DEDFX »

I'm putting a small explosive in a melon filled with blood and knew if I put a mask on it or something else, it might not rip through it when it exploded. Does anyone know if it woud look good if I chroma a picture of a guys face infront of the melon then have it "dissolve" away when it exploded?

i think you should just give it a go, be experimental, it'd be interesting to see what it looks like if it works or not

I'm not sure about the whole dissolvethe head thing will work because you'll still see a bunch of green stuff everywhere. You could try painting the watermelon white (skull!), or red (misc gore!).

I'll say this: liquid latex is a film-makers best friend.

All of Troma's movies that have an exploding head or head crushing scene in it use the honey melon filled with hamburger/fake blodd covered in foam latex method. I didn't try it because I don't want to waste all my firework powder but I guess I'll try it, and post the results.

You could weaken the mask with cuts scattered on it, that might make it easier for an explosion to rip all the way through.

I know a lot of people may know this but I found this out today. For fake blood splatter or adding bullet shells flying all you need todo is make a blue background in Flash, make your animation then export is as an AVI or Quicktime. Then just chroma it in, its better than paying a lot for those animation programs that do the same thing ;)

No, it would explode like that:

GRAPHICNESS

(I thought I should link these because they're pretty bad)

Besides, Oswald was firing 6.5 x 52 mm, which would blow your head apart, but not to the degree of a shotgun.

If you look at the back of JFK's head, his skull is blown everywhere.

if you held a shotgun right up to someones head it would tear your head apart true. but in movies where zombies get shot in the head and they just explode its just lame.... if you frequent rotten.com you can look at the kennedy autopsy pictures and see that its only the exit that is kinda big.
