Dumb and Dumber Punch Effect

Just watched Dumb and Dumber, got to the scene where mental is in the phone box and punches through the glass and hits a geez in the face

the shot was from the side angle and looked very close, i'm not sure how they did it without pounching the actor, anyone?

Its very simple, they measure up and punch just past the face, its the oldest punching trick but only works from the side really. works good, check out the uppercuts and headbuts in my Batman Movie on the final fight:

It looks great though, add the squib for the glass or whatever and with the acting it works really well, haha I love that scene 'get....off....the...foSMASH'

i never really though of punching to the side because of scale but with speed it seems to qork thanks

trouble is its a trick that looks better and sounds like its gonna look fake!
