Thanks XeFx309 and Carnage7p!

The blood on all the actors is corn syrup with blue, yellow and red food colouring. The guts in the mostly-eaten-dummy are simply made with monofoam. Then painted with glossy red acrylic paint. All the blood on the dummies is red acrylic paint.

If anyof the moderators want to attach this whole thread to the other thread I made, that would be cool. I didn't mean to start a whole new thread, just to reply to the last post in my old thread.

the blood on the actors looks too purple for my idea of blood... or at least hoolywoods... however the blood on the dummies looks extremely good... although you might want to think about adding bits of recognisable features on the dummies so that the zombies havent eaten all of his face... even if it a latex ear thats been chewed on still on his skull... thats just my idea... because i think the transition between the bones to the pelvis and leg area that is untouched looks a little weird

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your comments and suggestions. Lorenzo_amateur_prods, I explain teh car stunt in the other thread.
Insert_coin, I like the idea of a chewed up ear and will look into that. Great gruesome detail.
As for the blood looking purple, I want to defend it because it doesn't look that purple in the real video. Maybe in some of those badly lit, high 8 stills it looks purple, but I contend in the trailer, when the guy with the goatee has blood in his face, and glass in his head, that it's not purple, it's good blood red.
But then again, I am sounding defensive. I might be wrong. I have noticed that if you mix blood indoors with standard lightbulb lighting, it looks purple-ish outside, because indoor lighting is so yellow. I've always tried to account for this.

Was the red acrylic paint, spraypaint or regular paint? I am starving to do an effect like that. By the way, I can't wait til I see that movie finished.

I had a teacher in art school who had sheep guts and blood, poured over him for a some piece of performance art. A day or two later, after he had showered a whole bunch, his ear started bleeding. He had developed a terrible infection which apparently lasted months. Everyday he would wake up with his head stuck to his pillow. Then his doctor gave him a powder to put in his ear every night. His head still stuck to his pillow, just with a lot of powder and blood this time. The whole thing sounded pretty terrible.
Movies like Day of the Dead used real animal guts and organs but they were kept in a fridge and washed of all real blood; then covered in the fake stuff. I love the way that looked.
The acrylic paint I used was Naphthol Crimson, and I painted it on with a brush. Then I covered that with acrylic gloss varnish, also with a brush, to make it look wet.

Ya I wouldn't even cover my actors with real blood and I can be a mean director, thats just, well I wouldn't even be on set, hate real blood, animal or not.

blood is cool but no way on set, morally and hygenically speaking its against human behaviour.
