Smoke footage?

Post by rhys »

Hey, does anyone know where i can get free smoke footage that is filmed on black?
I need to have the smoke enter screen and fill out the screen, i am using the smoke as a trackmatte on a vampire layer to make it as if the vampire turns to smoke (ill be reversing the clip)
Any ideas?

Just so you know though, their pay footage is worth it, especially when you compare it to Artbeats, which I had to buy a clip from recently.

you cant get a black bed sheet and do this yourself out the back yard? whats the deal you would have full control over how your smoke moves with a fan or something this is just lazy.

Well thats the problem then you should be adjusting the levels and then screening the smoke over the footage.

You dont "key" smoke or anything shot on black background for that matter... you play with layer overlay settings... with smoke id imagine "add" or "overlay" would be good settings to use... or is it "screen" i can never remember which gets rid of black... anyway set contrast up so you get some nice harshness to it just play around with settings until you have a nice composite. EASY!
