If you're semi-capable when it comes to firearms, or know a gunsmith in your area, check out this PFC blank firing M16 kit -
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/a ... y?menu1=16
Under New Releases, select 'Marushin.' A little further down the page, there's also a blank firing XM177 carbine (used by special forces in 'Nam)
Link to fully assembled gun (considerably more expensive, and most of their stock is out at the moment)
http://www.modelguns.co.uk/m16a1_rifles.htm
Blank firing pistols (not top notch, but if used during the daytime they look absolutely fantastic on film)
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=119744
Basically, if you're dropping a lot of cash on gear, go the extra yard and get the guns. Enough with these high budget war films with badly done muzzle flashes

I wouldn't recommend Model Gun Company. They are beautiful replicas for display, but sound and look kind of dorky when fired. Not to mention their ammunition caps cost around $2-4 EACH!

Get some sun on those pastey white arms! Looks pretty good, except the gasmask bags are worn around the waist. The smaller strap goes around the left leg. Just like they are worn today.
Also the composited muzzle flash should have suppression flashes out the sides of the barrel tip. A little masking on the face will do you good as well.

Epsilon, you've been very much misinformed. The cartridges are 3-4 dollars each. You load the charge (cap) into the cartridge, fire, and reuse the cartridge as many times as you'd like (provided you clean it after every use, and thoroughly scrub it ever 4-5 uses)
The guns are also reliable, provided you keep them clean and don't abuse them. Since it's a niche market, there aren't many cheap knockoffs, and just about the only ones on the market are the high quality stuff.
And caps run about 10-15 dollars per 100.

I have a Myspace for the film, and a website, though both are lacking information, and theres more in this thread.
Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/acemedia
Website: http://acemedia.sandfalls.com
Tomorrow we begin shooting! Not everything is here, but we're going to shoot what we can. Hopefully we'll get enough done, assuming Murphy's law doesn't deliver a swift kick to the groin.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know where I can get a 1969 box of Winstons?
