Hello all,
I need help in recreating the "Coloring" from Madonna's "Get Together" Video. Anyone know how this was done? I want to be able to recreate it exactly (if at all possible).
My main app of choice is After Effects 7. So hopefully it can be done using just AE. If there is a plugin that may recreate what I need, any ideas?
I've checked on Creative Cow, and no one is able to help.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chip

hmmm... I'm not sure, but maybe it can help or even spark an idea to someone else.
it could possibly work if you made the clip monochrome, than tint it the way you like, and boost the contrast and saturation until there is only black and the color you want.

I would say that all of the black outlines was done by rotoscoping. I think....

Yeh id say just to make extreme levels, then make it a single color however u want (color corrector, rgb, monocrome, etc). The rest of the pic would have had other layers on it.

ok lets break this down a bit... its nothing you havent seen before in other film clips this one just has more effort.
what you do is film a whole pile of blue screen elements like madonna singing or whatever you like really. you couple this with motion graphics. the footage looks like it uses basic filters with the aid obviously of studio lighting. these are all placed on 3d layers with a virtual camera as sort of a multiplane sort of situation. if you ever studied animation or just google multiplane camera.
anyway linear camera moves with motion graphics animation and video elements that have been matted this is simular to heaps of different film clips just most are less fluid and taken the attention to detail as this one everything is very smooth.
otherwise if your looking to create that drawn effect theres an old trick where you make the image monochrome blur it a little bit then apply levels and drag the end sliders to the middle. keep in mind it has to be flat and have no transparency or else it will keep the feather.
