What spec is your PC or hard drive?

It sounds as if Premiere can't store the incoming data fast enough.

Grant will back me up on this, Premiere is horrible when it comes to dropping frames.

Use Ctrl-Alt-Delete to close any programs that aren't needed (try not to press the key combo twice in a row mind ;) )

And also, make sure you turn DMA on for all your hard drives. Look in Windows Help for more info on that.

i have got 30gig of free hard drive space, 256mb ram, cpu 1.1ghz, and adobe premier 6.0. i was also thinking about getting a bigger hard drive. Also is there any other programs that are better for capturing footage.

I advocate not to use Premiere for capture. It is terrible for capture. If possible use you capture cards native software

For our first film, we used Pinnacle Studio DV (now Studio 8) to capture and edit Digital 8 on a 733Mhz Celeron, 256Mb, 10Gb with generic cheap'n cheerful firewire card. The film was 38mins long and had to be done in smaller blocks due to limited disk space. We never once had a dropped frame or any other nasties and simply output the edited footage to avi files and imported them into Premiere and After Effects for all the fancy FX / processing we needed to do. The rendered sections were then exported from Premiere back into Studio DV for output to tape. No mess, No fuss...

Pinnacle... It's not just for cr** holiday vids!

Im sorry to say, but yes it is. Unless you want to do EVERY single little effect in another program and then just do the mark in and mark out in pinnacle..

I'm sorry to say, but maybe you've lost sight of the fact that the members query was on dropped frames. Therefore, I simply advised them that on a lesser specified PC than their own, we achieved flawless capturing with Pinnacle, something we couldn't get Premiere to do - I never said they had to edit, output or do anything else with Pinnacle, but that as capturing software, it had worked for us.

I've had no troubles with Premiere capturing. Maybe actually buying the software would help? Hehe, just kidding..

i aint got premiere at the mo, but is there anything in the settings about the frames or anything? Maybe you got something to automatically cull the frames or something on by accident...?
