fake limbs and the like
ok, this is my first post in these forums...fyi... anyway yeah....me and my friends are working on a movie, and usually we like to work out all the kinks ourselves, but i was wondering if any of you guys had any good ideas on how to make fake limbs, or realistic like dummies that I could use to hit with cars and cut up and stuff like that. I really have no idea how to make either.
oh and corpse grinder: EvilDead ownz me (I hope we can "share notes" as we share the same passions in movie making)

you can probably buy a lot of those dog toys that are shapped like meat, smear some fake blood all over, maybe some dead animal guts, and meat and you got yourself some fake organs... I dont know how to come up with the limbs.

Well you can make a stuffed arm like you would with a scarecrow, and add a suport running through it, (bone structure) built out of like PVC. The hand could just be a glove, or even an inflated laytex glove for a white hand. That sould be flopy yet hold shape, and you can stuff that mother with blood packs and such.
As for dummys you can do that on a larger scale, or find a friend you don't like to much and just use them. After they sign a form that says your not liable for their ingery or death.

Hmm....I like the pvc idea, cause I wanna break someones arm in my movie (and use a blood squibb right at the break point ala EQUILIBRIUM). A while back I read this recipe for making your own silicon stuff, that you could like "mold" and hten bake and it would harden, anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

If you want Real limbs and guts, just visit a chinese resturant and offer to take their meat garbage from the kitchen. It might be a bit gross, but you can't do better than real!
Personally, I would stick with the dog toys!

human limbs, Haha! Stay away from those one! I was just saying you can get like chinken and pig guts, not human!
You could go halloween shopping and buy fake prothetics for pretty cheap. Then use ketchup and mix a lot of red dye in for a nice thick (and etible) blood. Beet juice works great too, but stains nearly everything I can think of, including skin.

Yeah... i've seen equilibrium so i know what youre talking about! i guess i would just make some sort of camera trick to show that the arm is broken, and then just use a incectside spray fillede with fake blood!!Originally posted by the_satanic_COokie

score the pvc first, otherwise you will have a heck of a time trying to crack it. Remember, they are designed to hold water under pressure.
