wierd lines with dv camera

i keep getting wierd lines on my video. they happen when stuff moves and i was wondering if there was a way to get rid of them by improting in a diff format or something. theyre rreally p*** me off
heres a good example. sometimes theyre more noticible

woah..... I think there is definately something wrong. I would take it back if it is still under warranty.

i have the same problem

try this: in whatever your capturing/rendering in, make sure its set to whatever format your cam is. eg- If you have a PAL camcorder, render it in PAL. Same with NSTC. that will get rid of most of it.

i think i know what this is - interlacing.

i get it when i capture footage but dont resave the movie for some reason. i think it is something to do with interlacing but i dont know too much about it - i wouldnt worry too much - its nothing to do with your cam i dont think.

i import with premiere using the microsoft DV format NTSC
il try the PAL format next time

i looked up interlacing and i fixed the problem! VirtualDub has a deinterlace filter that makes it look MUCH better. it completely gets rid of the lines and even makes the image sharper. good stuff

select "no field" when capturing the problem will go away. at least for me

BTW: Virtually all video (esp. consumer ones) cameras shoot interlaced and video editors EDIT interlaced unless you specify otherwise. The reason is that TV's are interlaced displays.

I hate the interlaced broadcast video. But it worked better when it first came out. Eventually it will all switch to non-interlaced video. Then everyone wil have to buy new tvs. But that is still a ways away!

i've seen a few non-interlaced shows lately. a good example is CSI. im almost positive that its not interlaced cause theres much less blurring when stuff moves; you see the frames instead. hard to explain, see it for yourself. usually when it says something like "brought to you digitally by COMPANY" then its probably not interlaced cause the shows geared for digital tvs.
