I need to shorten my vid

Post by Skitz-O-Phrenia »

I have a 3+ gig file that I need to take about 10 sec off the intro and I need to take about 30 sec off the end. I dont want to export the whole thing and have it take an hour. Is there a program that I can just cut off the parts I dont want and save it easy??
Thanks

Do you have adobe premire? If you do go back into it use the razor tool to chop off the part you dont want, then select it and press delte. It's that easy! lol

Surely that way you would have to render again to make it into an avi or whatever which has the chopped of bits?

Im not retarded. Yes I have premiere but then you have to export the changes and it takes forever just to make a tiny change....

It is an avi. 720X480(or whatever standard is)

You could do that pretty quickly in Premiere. Especially when working with standard resolution.

I had a 7 mins 41 sec long film, and in Premiere, at 560 * 480 or something similar resolution, it took 40 minutes, on a 2.4 ghz pc. It does take awhile.

Really on premire? For me it takes only about 5 min( for a 8 min clip), anyway its a small price to pay if you really wanna make your video shorter

I export it as Microsoft DV AVI. I capture from my dv camera through firewire, make my changes and then export it. I keep the quality(which is a must). Am I doing something wrong? Should I use a different compression? The file I am working on now is 27 min long and is 5.8 gigs
