This may sound like an illogical question. But are there any methods of performing stunts that wires are used for, without actually having to use wires? If I were to use wire-fx in a film, I wouldn't know where to begin with safety, getting the budget for harnesses and wires, crew and the crux of the matter... Removing the wires in post, I have no idea how to do that... (How were the wires in crouching tiger removed? PC effects, or were they just not caught on film thanks to clever cinematography?)
Are there any methods that can be used which are safer and more discreet than wire fx?
You can jump off Table Mountain if you like, just use camera angles, and you can create a good effect without using wires. Need to be a bit creative in planning what the actors are doing though!
