Froze an apple with dry ice? Are you sure that wasn't liquid nitrogen?
Ohh... Here is an odd experiment I remembered from Chemistry class years ago, take block of dry ice and break it evenly into two halves. Then place a bunch of Magnesium shreddings atop a half. Then light the Magnesium on fire and quickly place the other half on top. It burns very slowly and is illuminated like a candle!!!
I remember a student that was experimenting on his own and used the same idea but added another chemical to his experiment. The thing caught on fire and started spitting out little pieces of ash. We were all laughing at what he had done in his project and even our teacher was kind of excited. Suddenly, it explodes! The dry ice blew apart and sent tons of smoke, multicolored ash, and pieces of metal into the air with an awsome red glow. Honestly it scared the sh*t out of every one of us!!! But as for our teacher, she was laughing!

Oh okay, I was thinking you said that she dipped it in and out, then she dropped it.
Once, we had a teacher try to do the ping pong ball experiment with liquid nitrogen. Ater freezing it, she dropped it, and it bounced right back up. Thinking it wasn't cold enough, she let it sit for several more minutes and tried it again. Once again it bounced. She never could get it to shatter. We later found out that ping pong ball are now filled with a gas to prevent them from breaking!

try my personal favourite - the ping pong ball
wrap a ping pong ball in aluminium foil and leave a hole in the top (i take a sheet of foil an put the ping pong ball in the middle and bunch it up then put my finger in till i'm touching the ball and squash the foil around my finger)
then just use a match or lighter on the bottom of the little bag and u'll hear a hissing sound and smoke will start to pour out the top. Sometimes this take a few seconds. 1 ping pong ball will fill a room.
beware thought the smoke is probly poisonous so dont breath it in - i know it smells bad.
