Here is some very, very new pictures of the props to Swedish Tigers. We are especially satisfied with the Mausers. Just ask us how me made them! ;)

We didn't had the best camera in the world (use the DV to take the pics), but you'll see what it is:

How did you make the mouser? Because it looks a bit off almost like a Nagant.

Nah, not really. Maybe a little.

Mauser m96

First of all we bought 5 Mauser stocks on a surplus store for maybe 50£ on each. We are sponsored by a building material company (one of the team members father owns that company) so we get free pipes and other material. We took two types of pipes, one to the reload area on the back of the weapon (http://home.graffiti.net/tobbger/filmer/mauser4.jpg) and the other to the small, long pipe in the front. After that we asked a very kind carpenter to make five handguards for free, and he was glad to help us. After that, we screwed the handguards on and oiled them in to get the same colour as the stock.

Now we took a big screw and made the reloading detail that you can see on this picture (http://home.graffiti.net/tobbger/filmer/mauser2.jpg) The black things on each edge is just some layers of black tape. To make the copper plate on the butt (http://home.graffiti.net/tobbger/filmer/mauser5.jpg) we just cut out a circle from a bigger copper plate and glued it on. Now we need the thing beneath the front pipe that you use when you attach the bayonet (http://home.graffiti.net/tobbger/filmer/mauser3.jpg). We took a very small stick and added some layers black tape on the edge. The trigger is a hook that you use to screw in the ceiling to hang things up.

Almost done, need some more detail though. Begin with making the sight in the front. We sawed the edge of a plastic funnel (you now, the thin area in the beginning). Just tape with black tape again (:P) and use a black Indian ink penn to make it black (if it isn't black already). The finish is to find a harness and make it keep to the stock with some kind of small hangers.

Okay, now you're done! :D

Lately I've been working on the formal/Class A uniforms of world war II and my friends and I have become rather successful. Here is a picture of all four of us wearing our uniforms. Tyler is the most left, then Raft, then I and on the right is chris.

Very nice looking props all around, and clever work there Tobbger, where did you get the Mauser stocks? Or was it just a walk-in store and not online?

It was that bolt that threw me off, didn't get the best look at the rest. Guess I'm more used to just seeing the k98.

My latest catch: I went to the largest Army Navy Surplus store in Utah, about an hour and half away. They have a lot in the back of the building with just endless supplies of all sorts of junk, we were walking around and stumbled upon something that just about made me cry! Piles upon endless piles of WWII helmets. Easily over 100,000 of 'em. Piles about 20 feet high! I ended up buying 15 of 'em for $30. It was great. I started painting some markings on some of them today. Heres a pic of about eight of them.

monkey wrote:i have to say this.

there is going to be a gun show at the del mar fairgrounds on the 17th, and theres this awsome guy that sells deactivated machineguns from WWII theyr soo awsome, there was this m60 that he had last year, and i picked it up expecting it to be all heavy and stuff, but it was really lite, and sisce i have heard people talking about how massive and heavy those things were i thought to myself, hey! if this thing doesn't weigh much, then maby i can pick up that huge mg42 over there! so i did. it was stupid. i tried to pick the thing up, and the tripod spread out and it fell on the floor!! it was really imbarassing and the guy got really mad.
You know the m-6o was missing things and wasn't loaded, those carry a large amount of ammo and that gets rather heavy and after a little while of lugging it around you would say it was heavy as well.

My signature would disagree, but where do I sign up for the helmet deal? Do they have liners and chinstraps? You may have quite a little buisness in-line for you here with all the WWII junkies on the forum.

Chinstraps yes, but no liners, I'm sure they rotted away years ago sitting in that slack dump. But a good taped up wash cloth makes a perfect liner.. Anywho, just confirm what you want with me and what not and I'll let ya know.

I suppose if it's more of an extensive job, such as recolor green and gigantic medic symbols.

Heh, I might be interested, but I actually already have 6 US helmets. What I'm REALLY in the market for are German helmets...

I cant believe this thread made it to page 30. It's unbelievable.

Well from what I saw those look better than good, no dents, and perfect finish after they paint 'em. With un-linered helmets I use the cheapest winter hat I can buy (Canadians would call them toque's; don't ask.) Then roll them up, like a condom on your head, helmet goes on top of that. Great support for the helmet and comfortably padded. And on cold days you can wear it normally between takes. :D

Very true, on my helmet I used a ski hat on top for padding and towels around to keep the whole thing in place. Works just as well as some hunk of leather liner that costs more. Besides, mine's painted better and looks perfect.
