Just as an aside, I found a yard sale today, apparently they were getting really trying to get rid of everything because everything was 25 cents... including the 2 M1A2 gasmasks and pouches I picked up. One of the guys said he is going to check and see if he has anyother military gear to get rid of. Although the couple of things I bought today - the two masks, a GI issue gas mask bag, and a cartridge box are things i will use, if they have anything else I'll pick it up and let you guys know. Since I'm not particularly into military movies, most of it's not much good to me - unless of course there is some collectible value to it - and I'll make it available on a first come first served basis... for shipping and 25 cents LOL.. will let you know as soon as I hear from him.

Ooooh.. artsy. As another aside (I just have to tell someone) my local dollar store just started stocking airsoft guns, for six bucks each. Thats six bucks Canadain, so like four to you Americans, or a little over two GBP. I already have three, am going back tomorrow for more. They're not spectacular quality, but they work well, and are going to make great props. The barrel tips are painted day-glo orange, but thats nothing a little spraypaint won't fix.

Well, if his head was cut off I'd consider that bad, but it would be nice to see the full uniform. I think we need to find out from Gyro if this was from a film or just a digital picture to show us the uniform. Because if it's sole intent is to show the uniform, the important stuff is cut off.

It's a scene from "Forgotten" we just barely finished filming it today and that was the scene we filmed.

Not bad for a demo of the rule of thirds, only thing... the blue sky provides somewhat of a leading line, but the background is a little heavy, a little more rotation to have had a bit more of the tree in the background would have given something more to draw the eye from the overpowering expanse of sky, generally the human body is interpretted as a vertical line, the tree branches would have provided a bit more horizontal interest. Depending on how the shot was used, if hard shadows were the look you were going for, pretty goo, if it was a shot where hard shadows weren't part of the mood, then a reflector to bounce some light into the face/eyes/shoulder area ( like the airborne patch ) and to soften the shadows would have been a nice touch. The eyes are very important in setting the mood, try to keep them out of the shadows.

Exactly, it was just a shot taken during one of the scenes of Forgotten, not meant to be entered into a photography class, but yes the rules of thirds do apply here and I thought it was rather artsy. :D

I know what it'll look like, 'cuz mine's the exact same. It'll have handtowels duct taped to the inside to make the thing fit a person's head. We're not rollin' in the cash, and surely don't have the scratch for proper liners.

To All: If you are looking for a decent site to buy war gear look here. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/browse/browse.asp?c=2 It is a really cool site, and all of the stuff is Government Surplus, so it is moderatley priced. All of the stuff may not come from the U.S. or Germany WWII era, but some things are pretty sweet. Such as a WWII M1 Reproduction belt that Gyro and I got for our friend Chris for only $30.00. So take a look.

They aren't outstanging prices, but they are decent. I think your paid well too much for the belt, as there are many cheaper way to get them. The only thing I'd get would be the 2 E. German pants for $10 to match my uniform tunics.
I3lade203 wrote:Yeah, but I just wanted to see the costume, not an artsy thing. Whatever.
I guess I will never find you at an art show! haha
