film the shot you want and then get a decent size image used in the real bond movies and cut out the center in photoshop and make the center transparent. then use after effects to overlay it over your footage. this is how i have done it before and it looks great - if u know a bit about AE you can even make the "death" bit easily (when bond shoots the camera)

Yep, you can do it all in AE, including the guy walking in the barrel, no photshop needed, becuase I have an image of the barrel all blank in the middle, give me an aim and i'll be happy to share it with you.

Okd Skool Style:

Get a sheet of cardboard and paint it up with the apature markings. For the blood, get a sheet of glass or clearlastic, and squirt some so it runs down past the camera. For the sexy dancing girls, ask a neighbour, film them with colour filters play around with the contrast, and hey-presto, you have a James Bond opening sequence!

Yeah. I used a blank barrel still & filmed Ian in a tux doing the bond thing, then animated it & used an animated mask for the blood effect. :D

Byside copyright problems when ripping the bond image it may be the easiest way to get a decent barrel pic. I just tried to make a pic myself and it is pretty hard to get something good. The problem is depth of field. Here's a pic:
http://www.melog.ch/screens/barrel2.jpg (from a 9mm SIG P220 barrel)
But it's pretty useless.

One thing that is also a fact is: when you move someting in front of the barrel, it will be reflected heavily inside the barrel.
So IMHO the best solution is to build a barrel in a 3D app, then apply realtime enviroment mapping on it, so it looks like chrome, then play the walking man animation on a canvas, cube or whatever just behind the barrel, as an AVI texture. This way it would be possible to get realistic reflections inside the barrel.
