Vietnam weapons help???

Post by mercenary123 »

I want my Vietnam war movie to be GREAT, not good. But, I also want it done for only a couple of thousand dollars. I want the cheapest method of making these things...

1. M18A1 Claymore mine
2. Browning .50 CAL machine gun
3. M-72, 66mm LAW (rocket launcher)
4. RPD
5. Chicom Type-56
6. 81mm mortar
7. M-20 3.5 inch rocket launcher
8. a 20rnd clip for a 30rnd M16

And don't tell me there's NO way to do this! There's always a way to do anything and everything.

Thanks much, peace out,
Merc123

1. Why a Chicom? Most VC just used the AK-47.
2. Brownings weren't very popular in Vietnam, the machine gun of choice was the M-60.
3. You won't find a mortar under $1000 most likely. Good luck trying to make one!
4. The M-79 and LAW are two completely different weapons.
5. What is an RPD?

1. True, but you might want a variety
2. See #1
3. 2 words: PVC Pipe
4. He probably means he wants both a M-72, and a LAW
5. I belive that it is the light machine gun used most by the VC. It looks somewhat like a large AK-47 with a box magazine.

For the claymore, if you have the money, you could make a olive drab box, about 7"X9"X3", then melt the middle section slightly, and bend it a little

you really have to break each weapon you want down and see where/how you can make/adapt/mock-up/buy components. Big job....just the way I like it :D

I'm all for making the mortar out of PVC piping as for the claymore's why not paint a SPAM can and add little legs to it? That'd be cheap enough.

The site I went to musta got the names wrong with the RPD thing, it was RPK or sumthing. My plan was to make the Mortar out of PVC also.

Monkey, thanks for the sites, but I found those replicas...and this is what i thought...HELL YEAH!! :D

AS for the M16 prob, I'll just saw off half of the clip, I'm only getting bout 5 of them anyway.

Just take a saww, make some decent looking wooden clips, then spray paint then with a glossy finish. Make sure they fit the gun. Also, but some dummy rounds, hollow out a bit form the top of the clip, and glue em in.

A 20 round clip is about 2/3 the size of a 30 round, plus they are shaped like a banana... Cutting a clip in half would be very cheesy if you really want this to be a realistic looking film.

You know what... screw the cr**, just buy REAL clips. I bought a few mags for a couple dollars each!

You know, those 50 caliber Brownings are designed to be mounted, right? You can't very easily carry one around.

That'll have to be som BIG pvc pipe, haha. Remember, it can't appear light, these suckers weigh 136 lbs altogether. I think you are better off seeking out some reenactors and beg to borrow one.

I would like an M-79 Grenade Launcher! They look like so much fun!

There's no such thing as an RPD - you're thinking of an RPK. It's an AK47 modified as an LMG. Browning .50 cals were emplaced weapons, on jeeps and sandbagged bunkers. They're much too large to be carried around in a platoon as heavy fire support; the only weapon that ever served that purpose during the Vietnam War was the M-60, as it was the only high caliber weapon the military had that was portable as well. And I don't know about the 20 rnd clip being shaped like a banana - you have to modify the receiver if you want an Armalite rifle to take a banana clip. The smaller clips can really only be described as a little more than half the size of a regular clip with a slanted bottom. I'll try and find a pic to post up.

I'm gonna buy an M2 replica and use that for a bunker or somethin'. But I do know that the guys couldnt carry an M2, thats juss stupid.

I found some NEARLY full size M60s that I'm gonna buy. Anyway, after I get the M16s, I'll buy 1 real gun clip and try it out, if it works...BOOYAH!

Here's a link for an M-79 Epsilon, www.airsoft-war4.com
look in the grenade launcher section at the CAWs, its right in there.

Ah yes, that's not a LAW. But those puppies are expensive! I don't recommend that site!

You found replica M-60s!? I wants! :D Actually, M-60s were mounted to jeep and helicopters. They practically replaced the Brownings.

Haha, I meant the 30 round clips are bent! The 20 rounds are pretty square.

Oww! I got an idea! For the M16s I'm gonna buy, I'll just make a bunch of wooden clips that fit into the gun, that way I wont be wasting a perfectly good airsoft gun! HOORAH BABY!!

BTW Epsilon, the M60 replicas are at www.realistictoyguns.com juss look around, the FULL size ones are like 33" or sumthing, I'm buying the toy 30" one.

A thousand bucks for it? Woah, no way. It look plasticy too, too deep black. They should have at least used real metal parts for that much money. I've seen beautiful replicas for around $600 before.
