Well you need an idea, script etc and then you have to work our effects, cast, crew, loaction, equipment just to name a few things. I would search through the many topics/posts on this forum and learn from the discussions. The question is way to broad to answer

Well you would go about it like any other movie, only you add zombies.

make ten litres of fake blood. get some people who stagger around and a sharp implement (preferably a scythe or chainsaw) and make it look like
you are hacking the S!@t out of them (the magic of film)

If they want to make a zombie film let them make a zombie film. Its a lot of fun, not all of us have decided to have a super serious streak in our work from our insertion as movie makers like you Gyro, so lay off the kid.

I started out doing horror films with my friends - no actually they wanted to make a zombie movie and they coerced me into filming/editing it. As a matter of fact they want to do another this summer. What I love about this type of film is how its not really hard to write up a script. You get plenty of good experience making it, and you learn lots of tricks and techniques. Zombie movies are low budget, and a great thing to do. And if you ever want to move to more serious films, then you'll have good experience as well to take with you.
