DVD burner suggestions

Post by Carnage7p »

my parents said that they might consider buying me a dvd burner because i can't export my movies from my computer for some reason and they really want me to share my movies. i need some suggestions on good dvd burners that are $260 or less.

what do you think of this one?

Looks good. Sony's are always good. I think there is a TDK one that's less though, and it got pretty good reviews.

That is the exact same one I have! :D

I love it. Sony makes a great line of DVD players and that one is the best.

Have a look at the first drive to burn to ALL formats (including DVD-RAM).

It's the LG GSA-4040B:

Have a look at Panasonic's new SW-9582 DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM/CD-R/CD-RW MULTI drive:

wait about 2 months, then you'll have a dual-layer burner at 8-speed!

dual-layer is just like a standard DVD, but contains 8.5GB !!

NP, the burning can take a little longer then normal CD's/DVD's : 45 minutes
well that's just as long as my old CD-burner

But although it takes longer, it stores more data? Sounds good for backups

yep, it stores much more data (twice)
but if you want speed, go for 8X (single layered)

I'm assuming I'd have to buy a new DVD burner to get dual layer burning? Or can I just install new firmware?
