Post by Swanny »

Hi Swanny C here, u mite fink im a total foo for not knowing these but o well.

Two things,
1. When i bluescreen/greenscreen/whatever u call it, do the sheets i use have to be blue or green

and 2. How do i play footage backwards, cuz i have a clip of me throwing something away, and i want to make it look like i am pulling it towards me using "the force" type thing.
Cheers

For question one I leave to another person for two, you will need to do it in what ever editing software your using, and until we know which one you have we can't really say exactly how to do it.

- sheets really do need to be blue or green as these are the colours - furthest away from skin tones - if you are not bluescreening people - then use whichever colour you like as long as the object doesnt contain that colour.

Then make sure that they have green or blue skin too. Then you can use a red screen. :p

It's your movie. Plan ahead. Don't have characters that where both green and blue at the same time.

Have fun.

Okay, LOL! So if they're wearing green, blue and red, they're cut from the actor's list then! ;-)

I never thought I'd be able to get those blue-eyed, green-skinned red jacket-wearing aliens into my movie!

If you are using every color in the spectrum... white may be the best choice!

Now on to the next part of greenscreening. What to actually use for teh green/blue screen? I've tried a large green blanket, and it didn't work at all

It needs to be a solid color that is evenly dispersed. A blanket might have shadows and wrinkles that you may not notices, but is surely picked up by the camera. Any screen also need to be very well lighted. Otherwise it hardly comes out at all. Try a tablecloth maybe.

I have a blue bedsheet that I use for my screen. Usually I stretch it across a large board and set it up on the garage door. I work outside a lot because it just has the ideal amount of light. I use large, white, shiny foam boards as reflectors to make sure everything is well lighted. When this massive contraption is set up, I get all sorts of wierd looks from the neighbors. They probably think I am nuts by now!

I bought a green screen a while back. Hopefully I'll get to do the film tests that I want to work on.
