I post this for everyone who has never had the opportunity to see what a fabric squib hole looks like up close.
Notice the tape residue all over the inside of the jacket. Also if you look closely, you can see marks over the left pocket where it was scored. A squib was evidently going to be placed there, but never was. For every front hole, there is a compliment hole in the back! Most of the stage blood has been washed out. This character did not live to tell the tale.
i was watching the special features of bad boys II the other day and a guy was talking about the squibs that they use. he said that sometimes they can give you bruises. but if you double up your padding you dont feel a thing.
Many actors end up bruised when they are rigged with squibs. It is tricky to lots of padding because you still have to hide that relatively large explosive underneath your clothing. Saving Private Ryan had an advantage because there was lots of gear to camoflage squibs.
