DVD for European Players

Post by AA »

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum....
Have a DVD production question for the fellas in Europe
(or US if you know the answer)
I have to make a DVD that will be sent to Belgium and France.
What format, region, etc should I make the DVD?
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Well, I think I can help out here. If any of this is wrong, Europeans feel free to jump in and correct me.

France (and possibly Belgium*) falls under Region 2 DVDs. You'll want to encode the DVD in PAL format (as that is the European standard). If possible, an All Region DVD would be best, but if that is not feasible, then a Region 2 encoding should do the job.

I know this is pretty brief, but if you have further questions, feel free to ask.

*It is possible that Belgium falls under the Region 5, although I'm not 100% sure on that. Look into it.
Erm... yeah...

Thanks.
I'll try to find out if Belgium is Region 2 or 5 and post back.

I found a decent DVD region map and also a list that shows the region for each country
