Favorite Movie Soundtrack...

Post by Towels42 »

Okay, I'm sure this has been asked before -- but I didn't really see too much harm in resurfacing the question [unless of course I'm posting in the wrong section...] But anyway, what are your favorite movie sounds tracks?

Personally, I like the music from the 'Star Trek' movies and the sound track of 'Gods and Generals.'

EDIT: I just realized that I created my account for 'MattHawkins.co.uk' a year ago from today... wee... God, I'm so lonely...

i liked the one from apocalypse now, though that might just be because i like the doors. Sergio Leone's spagheti westerns (the good, the bad, the ugly, once upon a timme in the west etc) had the soundtrack done by Ennio Moricone, and i like those too

Being a big war film guy, I'd say that one of my favorites is Saving Private Ryan, along with the Indiana Jones trilogy, the ORIGINAL star wars trilogy, and Pirates of the Carribean.

To actually buy the CD and listen to it more than once? Kill Bil vol. 1 or Zoolander. In the the actual movie? Kill Bill vol. 2, Jurrasic Park or Pirates of the Carribean. War films and Sergio Leone are up ther too though.

Oh yes, the music from the original Star Wars trilogy was excellent... I don't think there's anyone here that dislikes John Williams.

I don't dislike John Williams; but his score to SPR is SO overrated. I seriously don't see what people find to be so great about it. Anybody could have done what John Williams did for SPR. By comparison: Go listen to the score for The Thin Red Line (or even Enemy at the Gates), they are so much better.

Other films with exceptional scores,
Apolo 13
Master & Commander
The Patriot
Willow

You joking? The music in Enemy at the Gates was OK, but it the corny Hollywood feel of the whole thing completely ruined the opening battle scene, and for The Thin Red Line, I thought everything about that goddamn movie was overrated, including the music.

James Newton Howard is a genius, I think he does his best work when M. Night Shyamalan puts him to work, can't wait to hear The Village soundtrack.

I honestly feel like crying when I see the trailer for "The Village", I'm so excited for when it comes out. "Signs" had some of the best horror music ever, it was completly original.

That is a really great film with a fantastic soundtrack, good to hear it. I also like October Sky by Mark Isham, great violin solos.

Man! I can't believe I forgot to list on of my favorite soundtracks of all time, The Time Machine (remake), it's turly on of the best scores of all time. It was composed by the same guy the did pirates of the caribbean.
The music in Enemy at the Gates was OK, but it the corny Hollywood feel of the whole thing completely ruined the opening battle scene, and for The Thin Red Line, I thought everything about that goddamn movie was overrated, including the music.
Ther're still better than SPR.
If you had the CD to SPR and TTRL, and you listened to them from beginning to end, you would realize that score to the thin red line is better.
