I hate Premiere Pro!
Juat got a new pc with XP Pro, and installed Premier Pro, played around with it, and I can safely say I hate it!
It's too cluttered, and not as user-friendly as 6.5 in my opinion, it actually seems to have an arrogant and pompous interface!
Reverting to 6.5 now!

I know what you are feeling. But in honest truth, I like Pro better in many ways. It takes more than just a few playing arounds to get used to it. It is an entire different program, not just the next version. Plus you cannot safely say anything after only spending a mere hour with it...

Keying is the biggest change, and it makes things much easier in the aspect of compositing.

Yeah, but I have AE for that
I just really did not like the whole single track/cluttered interface/dual monitor view.
There was no Real Time Preview option either, so it always had to render a preview when I pressed Enter, also the one monitor played my video very weirdly, it was sped up and skipping yet the sound was normal.

You overlooked the obvious. Premiere Pro is all realtime editing, unlike previous.
Sounds to me like you configured your movie settings wrong!

What movie settings would you recommend?
How long did it take you to learn and get used to Premier Pro (had you used earlier versions before it?)
Do you use Single/Dual monitors? On Premiere 6.5 I have one permanent preview monitor and a source monitor to set my in and out points only when I double click on a clip in my BIN and then close it afterwards.

A/B editing is easily simulated using multiple tracks, while I still use 6.0 for editing news since the LSX Mpeg codec doesn't work well in pro on my system, the keyframing in pro alone is wortht he effort to put into it....

Well, if they liked Premiere Pro better, they would be using that instead now, wouldn't they? State the basis of this fact!

Haven't seen the 6.5 interface, but I assume it is very similar to 6.0, the keyframing in Pro with each effect having it's own timeline( much like AE I feel ) allows you to set the keyframes for an effect while seeing where the kepframes for other effects are located. Saves a lot of time and guesswork with keyframing multiple effects.Vamp wrote:It does have it, that's why I'm saying it's not a problem.

I'll give Pro another chance if I can just find out how to stop that preview problem! It just skips and returns to video frames when I press Play on the preview monitor but the sound plays fine.
I don't have RT preview problems with 6.5 now that I have a 3400+ 64-bit and a gig of ram.
