blood squibs for bullet hits
okay looking for a good easy way to show bullet shots on walls humans, etc.? go out to a hobby shop or walmart and buy either
1. a model rocket starter kit that includes igniters and a launch control switch or
2. the launch control thing and igniters separate.
this should cost no more than 40 bucks
then u need some black cat firecrackers or someting like it. take a frecracker off of the bundle it usually comes in, then take the fuse out and stick the igniter in where the fuse used to be. tape it on whatever you need and then just flip the switch and bang!
be cautious and use common sense when strapping to people.
i am not responsible for any injuries.
any comments questions, or ideas they would like to add to this topic?

Well, thanks, but this is all old stuff around here, kindly do a search before posting new topics. I know you're just being helpful, but unnecessary clutter on the forums is a bad thing.

It would cost you half that to make a real gunpowder squib.

I'd love to use squibs, but I can't find a safer way. I don't wanna use the firecracker technique, way too dangerous. If any1 has a safer way to do squibs, please tell me.

Another thing is those rocket controllers suck. I would use a much hotter power source for more instant ignition such as 3 9volts in series or a car battery or something like that. 4AA's take to long to ingite powder IMO.

Dosn't matter. Let the guy post something he wants, you and I both know that most people don't search, expescially the newbies who just joined, and we will end up getting another squibs thread again sooner or later.UFProductions wrote:Well, thanks, but this is all old stuff around here, kindly do a search before posting new topics. Currently I am rerigging my compressed air tank with a solenoid valve so the actor can trigger the hit rather then a man operating a valve(like we I used to do). Compressed air blood shots are good for single head shots or if you want to do one large shotgun effect. For multiple shots in one scene only way to do it right is multiple squibs, proper padding and hearing protection, and a good solid ingition system.

I believe if you watch the 10 min film school involved with Robert Rodriguezes El Mariachi he talks about how he got real squibs for film for his flick. Because back when he made that film he was an amateur as well. And I think he got them from Mexico which I know getting real squibs and operating them is illegal if your not a technician. However, if you keep it under wraps who will know? I am sure you can by them online somehow.

Almost all big time directors today did the craziest things for amateur films when they were younger!

RE: Re: RE: blood squibs for bullet hits
We all know they work, and invariably we've all tried them, but we all also know that one in a million shot is gonna put the lump of clay that seals the firecracker straight into our eye. Thats why a lot of us use the compressed air method, safer, and just as good, if not better results.

Something to think about, we made this at home on a small buget.Nightingale_zero wrote:Currently I am rerigging my compressed air tank with a solenoid valve so the actor can trigger the hit rather then a man operating a valve(like we I used to do).
