is it masking when you have a low number of actors, shoot half and half, so that you double the numbers when placed together
anyone know how this is done and what software, are there tutorials available

Masking is the process of cropping or replacing any part of the frame one desires. But sure, masking can be applied for combining two frames. What I would do in this situation, is record the actors one side of the frame, then again on the other side. Put one of the takes on top of the other and crop the top frame in half. Therefore, you should see half of both frames, and if you have done it right, the appearance of twice the characters.

Just make sure both shots have the same light and camera settings.

Sorry to bring up this subject again, but i need help with producing this twice in one shot effect, i only have premiere 6.0 so i'm not sure if that is worse, i need a tutorial or at least pointing in the right direction of what to do, i have looked all over the internet and i can't find anything, can anyone please help me??
