Hi,
Can anyone give me advice on adding audio into film? by this I mean that the audio reception on my camera is basicly cr**, so what I want to do is record the audio on a seperate system and then add it to the film during post production.
Any ideas on software and/or equipment that may be required?

RE: Adding audio ?
I just wrote a tutorial on this, actually: http://deadsignalfilms.com/soundpt1.html . If you need clarification on any of that, by all means, ask me, and I'll answer and then revise the tutorial.

RE: Adding audio ?
also..... Is there a way of recoding audio (I filmed a play the other month and I wanted to use an audio recorder as the sound quality was woefull!) and then input that to the film? like using a digital tape recorder or something? and if so, whats, in your opinion the hardware and connectors of choice? many, many thanks. if I can crack the audio I should be sorted??? lol!

Glad you appreciated the tutorial--there's no pics because I wrote it up in about ten minutes' time .
Bodysnatcher, I'm not sure I entirely understand your question. Are you saying you have a seperate audio recording of the play, or that you want to to record the lines now and dub them over the original audio? Regardless, yes, it's possible to replace the audio, and it should be fairly straightforward if you already have a recording of the audio--just capture it onto your computer. If it's a tape, all you need to do is plug a. . .hmm, don't really know what it's called, but basically, it's got standard sized plugs/jacks on both ends so you can plug one end into the headset jack on your tape player and one end into the microphone jack on your computer's sound card, and then just record on your computer--again, using Audacity--while playing the tape back.
If it's re-recording the lines you want to do, well, that's a bit more complicated, but still possible. You'll need to have the cast listen to the original audio recording (the one from your camera) and watch the video, and record them saying their lines--with the microphone and Audacity setup AGAIN, yeah, I love Audacity--in sync with their original performance. It's quite painful and, depending on the skill of the performers, it probably won't match up very well, but that's all you can do if you need to dub audio in.
Hope that helped you--if not, clarify a bit and I'll try to help you out.
