I just bought a new CD Writer (Turned out to be a 52 Speed CD Re-writer, and cost a fraction of the last one (4 Speed!)!

It came with some CD Writing software called Nero Express. It lets you either create a VCD from any video file format including .AVIs, whereby the file saved onto the CD is converted to MPEG-1.

Alternatively, it lets you create an SVCD, which saves already-converted MPEG-2 files as MPEG-2 files onto the CD. You need a plug-in for this option to work, which you can download off the NERO website, but I think I would have to pay for that, seeing that I only got the bundles version!

It lets you burn a VCD from any video file because nero automatically converts it to an mpeg but with a lot of other programs you have to use a tmpg encoder to convert it to mpeg first and sometimes you even have to rip the sound separately with audio dub.
