Have you heard "The Planets" by Gustav Holst? It's classical music from the beginning of the 20th century, and It's somewhat akin to "instant movie soundtrack" If you aren't too worried about copyright (Or maybe its in the public domain?)
Either way, It contains themes that can be applied to many situations and can really complement films well.
If classical-type music fits your soundtrack, you should definately check this out.

RE: The Planets
The composer is long gone... the only copyrights you need to worry about are the music publishing arrangement (like anybody would possibly know) and the permission from performing group or it's company they work under.

RE: The Planets
who doesn't know of the planets? maybe not for the title, but everyone at least heard once Jupiter, or Mars! (I already used the last one in a small, ugly animation that did however take me ages to build) but it's a good idea of pointing it out, it should be usefull to many people...
