Summary : On 11th October 2010 at 3:51pm thousands of people watched Duncan, the sixth Type 45 Class Destroyer, slide into the Clyde.

The ship was designed in Glasgow, Filton and Portsmouth by BAE Systems and launched from Govan Shipyard.

HMS Duncan is named after Adam Duncan, Viscount Duncan of Camperdown (1 July 1731 - 4 August 1804) who, as Admiral Duncan, defeated the Dutch fleet off Camperdown on 11 October 1797. This victory is considered one of the most significant actions in naval history.
