the-satanic-COokie, when you have perefected that method on its side, could you please make a in depth tutorial? I don't get it with small PVC pipes around each other. I'm filming my movie in a couple of weeks and someone gets shot by a shotgun and flies back. Need a good compressed air method like yours. Thanks.

DUDE
OF COURSE I'm going to use more gore
whaddaraya fuggin nuts?!

I'm a big gorehound, in the final shot I plan on making a prosthetic piece of "skin" thatll go on my actors back, when the squibb goes off, it'll blow it up in shards, then I'm going to have two or three of the squibB "chutes" alittle larger, or just a seperate squibb, and I'm putting chili and s*** like that in it...
I promise gore.

Promise
if its not gory enough i wont fuggin host it, I'll shame myself, and live the rest of my life in hideous poverty under my parents house.

Ripped up sponge dyed red passes nicely as meaty chunks too. Plus they can be squashed down or stuff in a tube.

if none of those ideas work you could always explode your blood guts etc against a greenscreenor somethingand then add it in. wouldnt look as good as the other ideas but coudl still work

I wouldn't. Screen in blurred footage never comes out quite right. Even professional editors have a challenge reworking reflections and blurs against screens. I would keep something as trivial as that real. :)

Slight progress, I din't get to work on it that much because, despite my plans my dad needed the compressor for work and i couldnt get my hands on it til sunday.

I've got a huge list of how NOT to do it though. It's just a matter of getting it right. And waiting for my paycheck.

While waiting for the compressor we did get some other...interesting footage in though...
It involves explosives and the fact taht we almost killed one of my friends with a rocket :D

I'll import that tonight and host it.

Sounds fun, although I am sure that your friend does not share the same opinion! I look forward to it.

See children, this is how we get horribly sidetracked.

http://cookie.moonside.org/MovieSTuffsa ... etlord.wmv

Thats the one that almost took my pals head off.

http://cookie.moonside.org/MovieSTuffsa ... ockets.wmv

Thats a larger video, it has 5 different shots.

But yeah we were having fun.

I should probably explain alittle. I'm the kid with the helmet, and no shirt.
The kid with the yellow shirt is my best friend billy.
and the kid in the wheelchair that is getting shot at, with the nazi tank commanders hat on, thats Joey.

We started with bottle rockets at first, then we used model rocket engines, that I bored out and stuck a fuse in.
Pretty fun stuff, but I almost caught a few trees on fire more than once.

Oh and on that last video on the big file, I was holding a piece of cardboard and I deflected the rocket.
That's the point of that shot.

It looks okay, not sure what you could do to improve it though.

budgetguy wrote:OK i got an idea which isnt tested, but could work well and have no explosives.

Basically its combing the compressed air idea and the balloon filled with blood idea together. Hide a balloon under the back of the persons shirt(hopefully it wont be too bulgy) then fill it with blood, almsot to bursting point. then in the hole where u are supposed to knot it, place the hose from one of them compressed air pumps filled with blood everyone always talks about. this way the balloon is half filled with blood and the hose is also filled. now when u release the air, the blood will all be forced into the balloon, and when it reaches bursting point all the blood will fly out at the same time! add some some holes in the back of the shirt so there are concentrated gushes of blood through there.

i think it may work, if anyone tries it please tell me how it goes.
I realise this is after the fact a bit, but that idea has been tested on a low budget feature.(Go figure)

im thinking your going to need more than one air source, with that many y's it may blow blood out in like a sequentcial order, from left to right(or vice versa)
my friend had some plans for a squib that you would hook an air compresser up to...
you first make the blood packet, but leave somewhere for a hose to run, then hook the hose to it, turn the compresser on, and as the packet fills with air it will reach a point when it will burst you may want to try somthing like that, get a Y for the hose, and make two big packets, they should burst around the same time...i havent experimented with it, so good luck
