RE: "whoosh" sounds

You can make your own fairly easy. You just need a microphone on your computer or MP3 or something, and just experement. Many things around the house can be used to make sounds they usually don't.

RE: decide locations first or not before writing script?

I would never try and find the locations first. Write the script exactly as you would make it if you had no limits. This will allow you to be your most creative without giving up for your constraints. But sometimes that's not very pratical. Like writing a script for an assualt on a military base, wh...

That's one of the main reasons I need it for is syncing up sound and video. Yeah, that be great if I could see the plans. I've tried to make one before, it just wouldn't hold together very well.

Slates

I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a slateboard thing. Nothing to fancy, just the basicks, with a clapstick and everything. Also, what is all the different information you put on the slates. Any info would be great.

Hopefully soon, myself and Mr.Anderson will be creating a proffesional quality sound effects web-site. But it could be a while before the whole website is up and running. You can create some yourself with a computer mic or MP3 player. Just try different things like hitting a pillow or something. Che...

RE: A horror movie named Rakescraper

Depends. You'll probably should end up remaking it. Learn from your mistakes and make any revisions. Also, the actors will most likely look different from when you started, 2 or 3 years ago, so remake it if you have that problem. But, if your not so perfectionist, just continue on.

The second video looks much better. It still doesn't look as real, but not bad. I still would make the blood more chaotic and random, though. Make several differnt variations to mix it up.

Well, to me, it just doesn't look like or behave like blood at all. It looks like a random flash of red. Blood doesn't move or behave anything like that. When you have a person shot more than once, real blood won't look the same everytime. It's just not very convincing. Try to not make it so round a...

I watched Open Water the other day, I don't know which camera it was filmed on, but I could immediatly tell that it was not filmed on film. I don't think that not using film on a large budget is bad, it can look great. I've never shot a movie on film, I don't want to. That's only because I would scr...

I would never agree that DV, even HD, is better than film. The quality and feel of film is unbeatable. Of course, I won't be filming on actual film for a good while, I don't have even close to enough money. Hell, I'm just trying to save enough money to buy a digital camera right now.

RE: Two Capture Questions

I think can answer your first question for you. Those interlace lines are probably there becuase you shot with LP. The LP setting on your camera makes the tape run much slower, allowing for a much longer recording time, but it sacrifices the quality. I have run into this problem on my S VHC-C camera...

RE: A cheap star wars movie, LOL!!!

One way to do beginings is to work backwards. Do an outline on a piece of paper. Write down what you already know, where you want them in the film, and leave a good bit of space between them. Then think backwards from your ending. Okay, to get here, they had to do this, so before that, they had to g...

Be very careful, blanks can kill too. I would recomend using the guns just for props. I'm sure there a several topics on dirt hits. And a really simple way for dirt hits is just using firecrackers.

RE: One Last Hit

I read most of the script and it looked pretty good. I also watched the video, that was good also. It sounded like the actors were talking, not just reading off of a script. The characters were believable, which means the actors were good, so you have a jump on a lot of beginners. Try and edit the m...

No, no, no. You can NEVER use other people's music EVER in your movie NO MATTER what. Legally that is... But, this sounds like a big undertaking, so make sure to plan everything very carefully.

I was just looking at it as if I saw it in a theathre, that's how I judge all trailers I see. That's what I do with mine. If I wouldn't pay to see that movie after watching my trailer, I try to fix up the trailer, to make better. The trailer is your first impression to people, so I try to make it ex...

I could be wrong, but I think that the whole crazy reason was behind money. I think they put that stupidity on there so you couldn't import the DVD from somewhere else, cheaper. I dunno, it's crazy.

RE: My first time adding muzzles flashes... What you think?

Well, you can only learn from experience...Having said that, here a few things to fix. The first thing I noticed was the black around the edges. It looked very akward. Take those out and soften the edges. This should be easy, especially if you have Photoshop. Another thing you can do is to make thos...

I only watched the trailer, only because the evil, evil phone company won't give our neighborhood DSL. Anyways, the special effects were good from what I could tell. Some of the actual camera work definatly left some to be desired. As Gyro said, it looks very wierd when you have the cameraman in the...

RE: PORTABLE POWER

Car batteries won't work, they, along with all other batteries, they are DC, while your camera is probably AC. They may work for lights though depending on wattage. The only thing I can think of is a generator, or a really long extension cord.

I like it. It is well done. Although, it is kind of random. I would do something that has to do with a boat-house or something, I dunno. But that's just me. And many people say I'm goofy. But, if you decide to stay with what you have, make some final touches and it should be fine.

RE: Who wants hi-quality sounds?

Yeah, and we would have some free samples or something so people could make sure we weren't ripping them off and stuff. Just to re-assure the customer and to show how what quality they were. I have noticed it can be quite hard to find really high quality sounds. So, maybe this will work... Any thoug...

RE: GAH! FLIPPIN

Make sure your anti-spyware is updated. Also, if it won't delete any critical files, try deleting the folder the spyware is in. You can maybe even delete that program and re-install it later to see if the delete takes the spyware with it.
