Import MPEG4-V3 into Premiere

Post by Twabi2 »

I'm trying to import an MPEG4-V3 encoded movie into premiere Pro, but it just says: unsupported compression in file.
But I can watch it in media player, winamp, submax, ....

Maybe try installing/re-installing the MPEG V3 codec?

Hmm, maybe you should actually try replacing the file? lol :)

You can download a MPEG4-V3 Codec from MS -

Maybe you will have to convert using another program to import into Premiere... With some videos I had in MPG before, it couldn't open them so I had to convert to AVI, then from AVI to MPG, then it worked!

Premiere doesn't really like MPEGs. I think with the compression MOEGs use, frame by frame and all just doesn't work. Even when you *can* see the video, when you render it with transitions and stuff it will be all jerky and stuff.

Go download the latest MPEG VirtualDub and use that to convert the video into AVI or any file type you need.
