WMV to AVI

Post by Twabi2 »

ok guys (girls?), i have problems...
i made a movie with a friends cam, he imported it into his computer and burned it on a cd... AS WMV!!!
Now, i can't get premiere 6.5 to accept WMV, so i want a program to convert to AVI

i already tried multiple software-packages... Some of them crash, some of them don't add sound, some of them add watermarks,...
Does anyone now a free convertor?
or a good convertor (but nut too exspensive)?
Or a method to import WMV into premiere

Thx
P.s.: i need this for school, so reply, even f you're not sure, i need this before monday!

Easy, if you have windows XP...

Download "Windows Movie Maker 2" from the Microsoft website, and you'll be able to import WMV and then export it back to AVI.

Premiere 6.5 is a bit funny with the AVI's created in Movie Maker so you might have to export the WMV to your DV camera and then re-capture it in Premiere.

ok, the 1st piece has a "bad sector".
there a scene of about 15 seconds that's damaged. I can discard that scene, but not all scenes of the 1st piece
I can play the movie, untill the damaged scene. All the scenes after the damaged scenes are playable too... If i don't reach the damaged part, the programmed doesn't crash, if i do reach it, it crashes... But i can forward, past the damaged piece.
Is there any way to recover all these scenes?
I thought of recording while playing, but i tried it with "snagit", and i have the "video-layer-effect" (you only see black, something from microsoft against ripping).

I already tried that, but i have fixed it now
I downloaded a patch so i could import wmv into premier. Then i had to find the bad piece (premiere crashed when i found it :( ), but now, it's cut out..
Seems like the CD is damaged, because i can't even copy the file to my HD
