Yeah, fake blood in the nose, then tilting forward seems to be the best method. You only need one drip to come out for the shot to be effective. If you are an unmethodical person, you could have an actual nosebleed. I am not suggesting you break the actor's nose or anything.

My friend made a movie and he wanted to be bleeding from the nose and mouth.
I used the unorthodox method and punched him square on the nose and straight into the jaw... got the desired effects! hurrah! but i got hit back when i hit him and didnt draw blood. I had to strike him 5 or 6 times... i didnt want to hurt him at first, but when he hit me i let him have it

If you are going to play it stupid, you should have recorded all the punches.
You can easily break teeth, nose, or an eye with a loose fists flying around. Be safe. Otherwise you are going to be two seriously injured mates. I would stick with the fake blood.

actually you will be surprised what damage you can do for yourself by punching someone in the face. I generally in real combat teach people not to due to the risk of damage to your knuckles and hand, especially by striking around the jaw region. Also the risk of infection to your hand by striking the teeth is huge. The mouth carries a lot of bad germs and they can quickly poison the wound. One guy was in a fight once, struck a guy in the mouth and lost his hand a few days later to gangrene.
Also i would not punch an actor for real and on purpose to the face!!
But that is only me

If you want real contact hits on the body. Flex your stomach tight and go for the abdomen. It doesn't affect you in the long run unless you are Houdini. That master magician unfortunately lost his life because a muscleman landed a fist into his gut without flexing first. Be safe.

It can be hazardous to your health if you get a large amount of fake blood within your sinus. You just need one drop for the effect.
