The smoke effect is ok, but the explosion fireball needs more realism in colors. Maybe make the reddish orange, (correct me if I'm wrong on the color. I am color blind) a bit brighter or something methinks. The effect itself is convincing to me in terms of speed. Good job :D

Have you looked at getting Adobe After Effects www.adobe.com or EffectsLab Pro www.fxhome.com

I must agree here, I would have thought it would have been more 'dirty' ? the audio needed more to it but you did say it was only a test, so all in all excellent, if you reshoot have you thought about having someone in the room and throwing stuff out? Balsa wood, chunks of cardboard etc?

Aren't the color of explosions supposed to be bright?

It actually looks pretty good, the extremely low framerate will have to be used with a little creativity to make it work in context. You might try slowing it down with Premiere if you have it, and let it blur to interpolate. I like where the guy ends up in the shot.

To be honest, I dont really think so , the big ones are as they have more expansion i.e more room to burn gather more of the air to burn hotter to get brighter etc, but smaller ones if they are too bright it kind of tricks the mind into thinking the explosion should be bigger than it is. the heart should be bright but the it needs to be scaled down more? It is only an opinion, and lets not forget the tricks that are pulled to make the brain agree with what the eye sees, a handgun firing for example sounds naff in a film if it is not 'tweaked', to give us a sound that we think we should be hearing. Same goes for sight.

I wouldn't use that explosion sound. It was used in SPR with a transition from normal to slow mo. It doesn't fit.

In my opinion, the explosion is not too bright. It is the rest of the room that is not bright enough.

I like it.

Yes I have EffectsLab Pro. Check out Cantoloups 3D Tracking test. He used Blender and Icarus to seemlessly integrate a 3D object onto a moving live action footage

that 3-D thing looked cool, the brightness, rotation and reflection was just right and looked like a real object.
much better than lots of 3-D things i've seen before

wow was HDR used in that 3d footage? because honestly if there wasn't I will be very impressed and would love to know how to create the lighting and tracking to match the frame so well.

Holy hell! I've done some shots where i match the cam in 3D to the footage but they're never that smooth! How did you match the movement so well?!
